It was important for me to experience a day in Boston for several reasons:
1. I did not really believe we will make it downtown Boston at 10am when leaving school at 8am (due to traffic)... now I feel more comfortable scheduling our program for Monday morning.
2. A chance to go through a learning block or two in the actual setting reminded me about the importance of planning, distribution of responsibilities within a group, travel challenges and many more.
3. I appreciated the opportunity to focus for one day just on the JUA experience. I was able to remind myself about the pluses and deltas from last year, which I need to incorporate in the planning for this year. The travel time was great for processing, re-thinking and reflection.
Thank you for preparing this day for us:)

I agree with what Katka said, I had forgotten how exhausting JUA can be. Today also served as a reminder of how time can get away from you. A tip for new leaders: if you are planning on getting dinner at a "sit down" establishment, make reservations. Getting a table for 2 is easy, getting a table for 12 can be close to impossible.

I would like to see us have a group topic that the teachers create and have more interest in as well as a more "edgy" place to visit. Although, considering we got the OK for a trip to Boston in the first place on such short notice, it's nice that we had any place to visit. I think it was good splitting the leaders up into two groups.

Would it be possible for people to meet in Boston, rather than drive down as a group (if we are already in town)?

Initially, I was skeptical about the whether it would be worth it to travel 4 hours for a 4 hour training. However, as a new leader it was very valuable to see an example of what a learning block might look like. It helps give me ideas about how to plan the time. Also as a new person, I appreciated seeing where we will be staying and familiarizing myself with the area. It still feels like a lot of travel for a short amount of time, but I don't feel that anything we could have done on campus would have prepared me as well as that did. It was a great opportunity to learn by doing.
